Celebrate Christmas in Arizona! Run/Walk in a Sea of Santa's at the 12k's of Christmas® December 9, 2017 Gilbert AZ Recognized by Runners World as one of the Top 10 Races for the Whole Family (http://www.runnersworld.com/bucket-list-races/bucket-list-10-races-for-the-whole-family/12ks-of-christmas) and Top 11 Races to Run with your Doggie (http://www.runnersworld.com/?/bucket-list-11-races-? and past recipient of the ?Arizona Event of the Year? award - the 12k's of Christmas® is a must do for visitors to Arizona this December.  This unique family festival celebrates health, fitness and the joy of Christmas,  while supporting local animal rescue groups. The event includes a 12k run, 6k run/walk and a 1.2k Santa 'Sled Run?, plus a Christmas Bazaar, Santa's Pet Village with pet adoptions, and live Christmas entertainment in the park and along the race course. Wear a Santa Suit, dress up the kids as Elves, put costumes on your pets, and decorate your Wagons and Strollers. There will be wrapped gifts under the Christmas tree for the Best Decorated Entry in the 1.2k, Best Christmas Themed Running Outfits, Cutest Costumes, Best-Dressed Pets and Most Christmas Spirit.  All participants in the 12k and 6k receive Christmas 'stockings? - high quality running socks. There will be finishers medals plus 1st, 2nd and 3rd place age-group awards. Run/walks begin at 10:12, but the festivities start at 8 am. Shop in the Christmas Bazaar and visit our furry friends in Santa's Pet Village. Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and as many as 25 local rescue groups will be on hand with Christmas items for sale and information if your family is looking for a pet.  All participating rescue groups and Maricopa County Animal Care receive a donation out of the proceeds of the event.
