6 Corners BBQ Fest will return for the fourth year to Chicago's Portage Park neighborhood, showcasing a weekend of local restaurants dishing out a menu of summer classics: ribs, burgers, hot dogs and more! This eclectic neighborhood along Milwaukee Avenue will be reflected in the wide range of activities -- from professional wrestling to crafts for adults; from pop-up street theater to an amateur cook-off. Plus, the kids will have a blast on the inflatables. Two stages showcase the finest in local bands and family entertainment, and all eyes will be on our 2nd Annual 'Saturday MIGHT Wrestling? Exhibition. While patrons are wrist-deep in BBQ sauce, they can stroll the marketplace offering goods of all sorts! The neighborhood cooking contest will take place Sunday, June 15, boasting the best backyard chefs vying for the Bungalow Belt. Winners will be announced at 6 PM. Metra stations are the Mayfair and Grayland stops. WHY: The historic Six Corners shopping district is the downtown of the Northwest Side. This early-summer fest is a chance to see the new big, small and independently owned businesses that have opened at Six Corners in the past year. Plus, 100% of the fest profits will benefit neighborhood arts and education programming within the Six Corners community. Local groups scheduled to participate include the National Veterans Art Museum, Northwest Arts Connection, Arts Alive and Filament Theatre Ensemble. WHO: 6 Corners BBQ Fest is hosted by the Six Corners Association. Founded in 2002 by local businesses, the association was established to revitalize this historic business district ? an area that dates back to the early 1900s. Currently, about 130 businesses work in conjunction with the Six Corners Association.
